developers

i’ve been working with a lot of developers from different backgrounds so far. i’ve managed projects using php, java/j2ee, cold fusion, .net, python and so on.

here’s what i’ve come to believe so far:

developers using “open” technologies and advocate free and open software and programming languages are the bigger divas*.

using OSS on a commercially focussed project? yeah.. sure. well, at least as long as it doesn’t interfere with their ego or their “principles”. anything that isn’t within any standard they approve of - there goes your project planning. they’re very creative in coming up with reasons why its NOT working rather than the opposite. and believe me, i’m not clueless, i can tell when somebody’s trying to fuck with me.

commercial software is better documented. that is not wild speculation, that is a simple fact. no use to now pull examples out of your ass that tell differently, because i’m not talking about the few exceptions.

*there’s always exceptions though
